Rest

When we do not rest sufficiently, we are unable to function to our best potential, we become distracted and unable to relax. Take time to rest today.... Let your body and soul be whole as it re-energizes during this time. ~ACN

To rest is vitally important to our bodies. When we don’t rest we become irritable, moody, miserable and unfocused. We also become ungrounded. We become distracted and often do and say things that are totally out of our character. When we are tired and weary we make mistakes, we do and say things that we would not ordinarily do. Our minds become erratic and our bodies become ill. Being overly tired is just about as bad as being under the influence of alcohol or barbiturates as we lose our co-ordination. The result of insufficient rest is our inability to reach our highest potential.

When we are in the sleep state, we often do not rest as we gather so much information in our minds that we mull over and over. In order to rest effectively we need to clear the clutter from our minds, allowing all that has accumulated there during the course of the day to dissipate into the Universe. We do this by letting it go through meditation or quiet contemplation. Our consciousness will store what we need on awakening. We so often hang on to what no longer serves us; our ego self believes that we need all this “stuff” when in reality we don’t.

If you are one of those who cannot let go of issues, such as worries that you really do not need, try this exercise: on arriving home at the end of a busy day at the office, stop at a tree or shrub at near your front door. Mentally, take all the worries that you have and hang them on the tree or shrub. Now, without any burdens that you may have left your workplace with, enter your home and have a joyous, restful evening. When leaving for work the next day, stop at the same tree or shrub again and collect the worries that remain. You will be pleasantly surprised to see that there are almost none, if any that remain.

Our bodies require at least six hours of uninterrupted sleep. There are two main reasons for this. The first is to rest our bodies, the second is to allow our souls time to return to Universe for the purpose of healing, teaching, learning, energising and visiting with those who have passed over. Your soul needs rest just as your body needs rest. To travel to Universe is the way the soul rests.

When both body and soul are rested, then you, as a human in this life time, are able to function at your optimum and in this rested state can achieve greatness. You will be able to achieve all you set out to in this incarnation to Mother Earth.

In love and light,

Amanda
