Kindness

One random act of kindness can change a life. ~ACN

Oh how true this is. So what is kindness?

Kindness is when we practice the act of compassion and sympathy, when we show consideration and caring for others. It is a time when we consciously or unconsciously consider the needs of others and act upon our convictions to support them in fulfilling that need.

Now supporting does not mean taking on the problems of the recipient of your kindness. Supporting one means to be the shoulder for them to cry upon, the ears which listen and hear their words, and the hand that holds theirs in times of fear. It is the friend who laughs and rejoices with them, the speaker of truth to them and so on.

When we practice kindness to others consistently, then kindness becomes us. For kindness comes from our souls. It is not something that you can buy. It is a genuine act that comes directly from our hearts and is given freely and without conditions attached to it. It should always be given with gentleness and great love.

It is so easy for us to be kind to animals. Yet with humans, we judge and criticize without looking at what lies behind the circumstance of those in need. An example of this may be the judgement of one who is obese. We automatically assume the person to be obese as a result of the excessive consumption of food. We do the finger pointing thing assuming that is the fault of that individual for being obese. We say things like “well, she must be fat because of what she eats” or “no wonder he is fat, just look at all that food he is eating”. We do not know that the individual may be obese because of a health problem or that they may have such a huge issue with self-worth and they hide behind their obesity. We simply just don’t seem to care. Yet when we look on this person with compassion and love, taking the time to establish the route of the problem, our whole attitude changes and we now do things for them that we would not have previously done. This is kindness.

How awesome to change a person’s perception of themselves, in boosting their self-esteem and worth, allowing them to see that they too are loved and are love.

Change a life today! Go and be kind to someone and share your love with them today.

In love and light,

Amanda

  1. JUDGEMENT..... Isn't it an awful word in that context. Don't judge a book by it's cover, an old cliche but great advice. Look what we miss when we assess people by how they look, what they have, who they know. Everyone has a story if we just took the time to listen and see beyond all the superficial trappings. Treat all with respect. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Kindness does not go unnoticed. Imagine how respect for others multiplies your blessings. Be thankful and do not put JUDGEMENT before respect........

  2. Thank you Anonymous... Your words are so apt and so true. We never know what lies within another person and we so often do not respect them for what they are. Went tend to notice only the superficial (or outer body) of the person. We should at all times respect those we encounter no matter how they look. Often those that are not of great outer beauty have the most beautiful souls of all. I totally agree with your statement that we not put judgement before respect.
